Why Wrap Your Baby?
Wrapping or swaddling is a well known form of settling your baby. It enables your baby to feel secure and comfortable within the wrap, just as they did in their mother's womb. When your baby was born in the hospital, the midwives would have wrapped your baby, not only to keep warm, but to also to mimic the feeling of being inside the mother's womb. Whilst sleeping, newborn babies are disturbed by jerky arm and leg movements known as the 'startle reflex'. This is where wrapping your baby can help soothe them ensuring more relaxed sleep for both mother and baby.
It is recommended that when you wrap your baby you should wrap them with their hands up near their face; this enables them to still have the use of their hands giving them the ability to self-soothe or suck on their hands as they may have done in the womb. The problem with this is that their hands become free of the wrap, resulting in a more unsettled sleep due to the startle reflex.
What makes the Wonder Wrap™ different to other baby wraps?
What makes the Wonder Wrap™ different to other wraps on the market is unique design. The Wonder Wrap™ enables you to wrap your baby securely with his hands up in a more natural position, whilst still being contained within the wrap. This is achieved with the use of special pockets to place baby's hands in. This restricts the amount of movement available to the arms and hands, assisting in reducing the 'startle reflex'.
As all mothers know, newborn babies love their hands near their face, but since they have limited control over them, their jerky movements constantly scratch their faces. That's where the Wonder Wrap™ comes to their aid. By their hands still being covered by the wrap they are still able to move as they wish, but yet are unable to scratch themselves as their hands are protected, thus protecting their delicate skin. This will also assist in the colder months in keeping their hands warm.
The Wonder Wrap™
is also significantly larger than other wraps on the market. (Dimensions: 95cm X 145cm).This means it can last from newborn until your baby no longer requires it. Therefore, there is no need to replace it as your baby grows. It is recommended to start loosening the wrap gradually with a view to remove altogether once your baby is able to roll over.
